Glendale firefighters call it the "Fido Bag," a
medical kit used to offer first aid to
four-legged creatures.
The orange tote bags were unveiled this week
during a press conference at the Sun Valley
Animal Shelter, 7150 N. 110th Ave.
Barry Korb, board president of the group, made a
$4,000 offering to help pay for the emergency
kits. advertisement
"Hopefully, we can save some animals," he told
reporters Wednesday.
Elio Pompa, a deputy Glendale fire chief, said
the innovative bags are designed to aid injured
pets that are often pulled from burning homes.
On an average, Glendale firefighters can expect
to find dogs or cats in six out of 10
residential fires, Pompa said.
The Fido Bag, which will be placed on fire
trucks, will contain an oxygen mask and other
medical supplies for use with injured pets.
